The most beautiful fabrics for outdoor structures
Is it possible to fully experience outdoor spaces even during the winter?
Of course it is, if the outdoor structure is designed with the best materials. Indeed: covers and side closures on pergolas not only protect against the weather, but also add value from an aesthetic point of view. So these materials must be chosen carefully. Not sure of how to proceed? Here are some of the best fabrics for outdoor structures.
The canvas cover
Thinking of covering your home or restaurant terrace with a Pergotenda®? What distinguishes the pergola, which can be configured either as a freestanding or as a wall-mounted pergola, is the presence of a flat or sloped canvas cover. Standard for all Pergotenda® models, but at the same time capable of creating ever-changing atmospheres, is the water-proof Eclissi fabric. Made exclusively for Corradi, this coated polyester fabric contains a darkening film that screens out UV rays, reducing the heat from sunlight.
Impact®, Corradi's patented folding cover system that can also be applied to existing pergolas, can be combined with other aesthetically pleasing technical fabrics, such as:
- Precontraint 302 satin, a fabric with specific qualities of heat and weather resistance, available in shades reminiscent of the colours of nature such as ice and sand.
- Soltis 86, a permeable polyester membrane with PVC layer, perfect in the exclusive two-tone silver and powder colour, for a refined, trendy outdoor space.
But the various versions of canvas aren’t limited just to the available colours. In fact, there are also special configurations that satisfy specific practical and stylistic requirements:
- Slack canvas: the default solution for sloping versions that allows water to drain off to the ground from the side.
- Trapezoidal slack canvas: with one-sided or alternating drainage for a functional, sophisticated design.
- Taut canvas: the solution for flat pergolas, which prevents the accumulation of rainwater on the canvas through the use of spacers that guide the water runoff to one side only or to both sides if alternating.
Finally, the latest addition to the catalogue is black Opatex® Cool, a brand new thermo-reflective composite darkening fabric that, through its HSR (High Solar Reflectance) coating, allows greater solar reflection, reducing the sun heat transfer into the room below, without compromising the fabric’s aesthetics.
Exclusive to Alba Butterfly, despite being a dark fabric, in hot weather it provides state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly passive cooling comparable to the performance of lighter colours.
Fabric side closures
On the one hand there’s style, on the other the need to close the space while also keeping it bright: the solution to everything are Corradi’s fabric side closures, designed down to the smallest detail to effectively protect your outdoor space without sacrificing aesthetics.
- Magiko B, a Corradi creation, is the cutting-edge choice when it comes to vertical filtering closure solutions for verandas, pergolas and conservatories, or even for installation in niches. This vertical drop blind system, available in both motorised and manual versions, combines elegance and functionality, protecting against the elements while maintaining a clean, minimalist design. Also ideal for the hotel and food service sectors, Magiko B can be fitted with integrated LED lighting in the protection cassette for an enchanting outdoor ambiance.
- If the choice between transparent, filtering and darkening fabrics isn’t easy, there’s always Brio S, the vertical closure with an automatic locking system to ensure the tension of the canvas.
- Speaking of side closures, a special mention goes to Cristal, a completely transparent and waterproof fabric with PVC layer that’s remarkably resistant to wear and tear, which allows for a protected yet bright outdoor space. Cristal is also available in the RES version, with the same features and a sophisticated Fumé colour.
- Among the wide range of filtering fabrics, Glassrope certainly stands out. Made from mineral fibre and resin, this flexible, durable yarn significantly reduces heat transmission through its ability to reflect and absorb heat, offering notable energy savings.
Completing the Corradi range of closures are the Ermetika® Cristal XL and Diffuse XL screens, designed to maximise the comfort of outdoor spaces by protecting them against adverse weather conditions without sacrificing design.
All Corradi solutions are customisable, made-to-measure and can be produced in the 24 shades of the catalogue and in RAL colours.
Indeed, Diffusa XL has side sliding rails that allow easy height adjustment, ensuring a clean look that blends in with its surroundings.
