Serenity At Cistercian Abbey
Irving, Texas
A place where students of the Abbey can go to spend time outdoors to eat, learn and socialize safely and comfortably.
“We decided to add the louvered roof systems to our outdoor spaces due to Covid. We were trying to find ways to mitigate the risks of the pandemic, to get as many students back on campus as possible. We added the louvered systems to allow the boys to eat outside even in inclement weather and be as safe as possible.
We really like the ability that the louvers could be moved to make it rainproof essentially on rainy days but let filtered light in on sunny days to keep it from being quite so hot. They really improve the functionality of our outdoor spaces. For the money it gave us the longest term benefit and we really liked the aesthetics of their system as well as the functionality. And it was competitively priced.
As we see it the silver lining is this campus will get to benefit from these structures long beyond this pandemic.
We absolutely plan on using these outdoor spaces for classroom space as well and I’ve seen several classes meeting outside and have already started to appreciate them for that purpose. We absolutely see them improving the flexibility of these spaces and there are probably things we haven’t even thought of yet that we’ll be able to use them for.
Not only do they really help us during this pandemic, they really will be an asset to the campus for years to come with all that they’ll allow us to do regardless of the weather.”
